Major Oni may consider it a bit of a diplomatic faux pas for Tiny to greet him while wearing nothing but a bikini. But then again, do rules of diplomacy really apply if the international community doesn't even recognize the "government" you represent as your country's real government?

Perhaps you already know the Republic of Kogana and some of its neighbor countries from this year's round of 30 Days of Characters. But if not, don't despair! You'll likewise learn all the important details over the course of this story...

General Mbuni knows that this "dilettante in a bathing suit" refused to give up her company's extensive blackmail files to the US Government even after excruciating torture, slaughtered a hundred elite anti-insurgent shock troops, and engineered the assassination of her brother. And all of this had ZERO consequences, which means deep and extensive connections within both American and European power structures.

General Mbuni knows that Bettina Timmy is not to be trifled with, General Mbuni knows that Bettina Timmy can give her what he needs...

Seems their first meeting will be one we can look forward to!

So, is there a timeline as to where this tale fits into the three "separate" universes (LIR-verse, AB-verse, and MR-verse)? As we have seen in the latest AB update (awesome page, MR) a certain character on that page appears to have met his doom - and that character wasn't even in the main AB series.
With the amount of creative genius that you, Lirv, Prof, Sophie, et al have, it is sometimes hard to see where certain tales fit (character "death" is one example).
I understand that this tale occurs after Tiny's succession to the CEO of ToyCo, but is it AFTER Team NunChuck's victory or before it?

Sig-

I can't speak for Prof/Sophie or Micro, but my works operate off of "slingshot time" where you can generally assume that the first page of a sequence is set in the real world's timeline at the time of that page's publication, unless there's some obvious reason it isn't (i.e. "JUNE 2020" time stamp or a flashback reference). All subsequent pages in the sequence are set on that date, or at whatever speed the pages advance.

This drives my savage update pace and the need to get stories done in the space of a year or two... they'd get irrelevant pretty fast otherwise. Grinder$ is kind of an exception to that, as it is my "forever" comic that has no end date.

Playground is not wholly owned by me. More importantly, Micro and I talked about this, and decided this work was set in roughly February/early March of 2020, right before COVID-19 shut down the world. Elliot Maerc is dead and all the one-time dictators looking for a comeback know that they'd better look for other allies.

From the perspective of the MR-verse (interesting word coinage, didn't think of that before), Playground is happening roughly in parallel to Cryptida Chapter 22, and thus, like lirv said, in early 2020, shortly before the virus wrecking havoc everywhere.
Note the lack of characters appearing both in Playground and in Chapter 22, while Lena reappears in Chapter 23, of which the main part is happening somewhere in the summer of 2020, way after Playground.
(It's not determined if this will indeed crop up in Playground yet, but my current head canon is that Lena forged her first connections to Starry Wisdom on this very stay in Monaco!)

My modus operandi differs a bit from lirv's insofar as my general assumption is that a chapter's plot happens somewhere between the start and the end of when this chapter gets posted in real life. (The exception proves the rule, though! I think I did indeed e.g. do consecutive chapters that where supposed to happen in parallel.)

As for my AB guest art (thanks for the praise BTW):
I'd say that there is enough "space" for the depicted event to happen (if it's canon at all, that is) between Felicia's last sighting in Valkyries (in 2018!) and Maerc's demise (which I simply did not foresee when I drew this).
The mentioned blizzard implies winter though, or perhaps a very harsh late autumn. (Or perhaps magic is messing up the seasons, since it is Autumn Bay after all! ;-) )

A small addition: Felicia also appeared in Childhood's End a month after her last Valkyries appearance that I linked to - but in universe, Childhood's End actually happens rather during the earlier chapters of Valkyries!
